Mason Elementary School Project Gets Overwhelming Endorsement from Voters

At the annual meeting of the Mason School District on March 12, 2009, District voters approved by an overwhelming margin, the issuance of a construction bond to cover the costs of fully renovating the existing Mason Elementary School and approximately doubling its capacity with new educational space.

This project is an important example of high performance design and construction, both for existing buildings and for new construction.  The Mason project will include upgrades and additions-and both parts of the building are being designed, and will be constructed, to meet the exacting standards of the “NE-CHPS Protocol,” which is New Hampshire’s guidelines for achieving a high performance facility.  A CHPS facility is then eligible for up to 3% more in School Building Aid payments from the state over the life of the bond.

The Jordan Institute is delighted to offer congratulations to the Mason School Board for this significant step toward achieving the School’s energy and educational goals. The Jordan Institute is providing construction management services for the whole project and is consulting on the green, high performance features, to be sure the CHPS objectives are met.  The next few months will be very busy for the Mason design team, which, in addition to The Jordan Institute, includes Daniel V. Scully / Architects, WV Engineering, and Clough Harbour Associates. Visit our website for ongoing updates on this project.
