Energy-Saving Upgrades

The Jordan Institute works with private and public building owners to plan, implement and evaluate energy-saving improvements. We help ensure that energy savings will be real, substantial, and enduring.  We do not carry out projects ourselves -- we provide independent, unbiased guidance at every stage of the process.

Our services include:

  • ASSESSMENT OF OPPORTUNITIES
Introduction to conservation, efficiency and clean energy opportunities in buildings – opportunities to save money, improve occupant comfort and productivity, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This typically includes "benchmarking," an analysis showing how energy use compares with energy use in comparable buildings using industry recognized tools.
  • AUDITS
Full building energy audits including analysis of building envelope (thermal imaging and blower door testing), HVAC systems and controls, lighting/lighting controls, and all other energy-using systems. Includes energy and financial modeling -- energy modeling compares possible energy upgrade options to find the most effective energy-saving solutions, and financial modeling analyzes the life-cycle benefits and return on investment (ROI).
  • RECOMMENDATIONS
Recommendations for conservation, efficiency and clean energy measures that are the most cost effective.
  • FINANCIAL STRATEGY
Assistance in identifying the best form of financing and all available tax credits, utility rebates, grants and other forms of support.
  • IMPLEMENTATION OVERSIGHT
Oversight of implementation of all energy-related aspects of a project. Our role is to provide quality assurance -- owner-focused representation with no bias toward any manufacturer or contractor. A non-profit organization, Jordan role is to ensure effective execution of energy-saving improvements.
  • COMMISSIONING AND MEASUREMENT & VERIFICATION
No project is complete without proper commissioning.  We can either provide commissioning services ourselves or assist in the selection of a qualified commissioning agent to ensure that installed systems work properly and optimize building energy performance. We also design into a project controls that allow monitoring and management of energy use, and can train owners' staff on the use of such controls.
